Nokia Lumia

The Nokia Lumia is a series of smartphones from Nokia first introduced in November 2011, all of which use the Windows Phone operating system. The Lumia name is derived from the partitive plural form of the word Lumi which means snow in the Finnish language.
As Nokia lost smartphone market share in 2010 mainly due to the rise of Android, they decided to move away from the Symbian platform and adopt Windows Phone as their primary smartphone OS to catch up. Nokia made a partnership with Microsoft on February 11, 2011 where both companies would work together to promote the platform and build a smartphone ecosystem. Nokia continued to develop and release Symbian smartphones as well as MeeGo when the Lumia line was first released.
For the first generation Lumias, first showcased with the 800, Nokia's advertising tagline was The Amazing Everyday. Nokia exclusively used DJ TEED's song Garden in TV advertisements of the first generation Lumias. For the second generation Lumias, Nokia uses the taglines #SWITCH and This is Lumia.
